About Us
We are a family-run business located in the small farming town of Nickelsville, Virginia. In the year of 2013, healthy eating became the conversation around our family dinner table. By the end of the meal, we were making plans to grow a couple plots of corn and wheat.
That spring we and our friends spent a lot of time together in the fields preparing the soil and planting seeds. When the crops were ready, we worked together to harvest the grains.
That fall as the crops turned golden brown, the antique shellers were pulled out of the shed and the young boys began to flock around the trailer to shuck and shell the corn. One boy turned the handle as the other one fed the sheller. Within a days time, we would easily shell 10 - 15 bushels of corn.
We started with a small, red hand-cranked mill clamped to a table to grind the grain. With our home-grown, stone-ground flour, my mom and sisters began making bread, buttery dinner rolls and Italian breadsticks that fed our family every day. YUM!!
As the demand for flour grew, our family decided to start a gristmill to serve our community. Our goal has always been to produce the highest quality products made from organic and non-gmo grains. We hope you are delighted with our products and please come see us soon!
Before the arrival of supermarkets and factory-baked bread, the miller and his mill were essential for sustaining life in early American communities.
Our goal is to bring back the essence of what the gristmills stood for: A locally-based service providing wholesome, natural food for the surrounding community, both near and far.
